“Like my other three siblings, I attended BHMS for over ten years. I went straight through the casa program all the way up until my grade 8 graduation. BHMS not only provided me with a lifetime of amazing memories but also a strong academic foundation.

The BHMS environment encourages students to learn and grow and be themselves. There are many things I did in junior high that I don’t think I would have done had I not been in such a supportive and encouraging school. Activities such as playing Miss Hannigan in the school play “Annie” when I was in grade 8 and participating in the bike trip in both grade 7 and grade 8.

After graduating from BHMS I attended Nepean High School. I felt very prepared academically for all my classes, especially math and science. I found I had already covered most of the topics that I encountered in high school and the ones I had not covered were easy to learn because of my solid foundation. I also had a more independent and disciplined work ethic than most of my peers. BHMS always taught me to tackle assignments on my own and to work independently on projects.

No one from my BHMS graduating class entered Nepean High School so when I first went to Nepean I knew no one. Because I had such a strong sense of who I was from my years at BHMS I had the confidence and social skills to meet new people and make new friends. In grade 9 I ran for students council and got voted grade 9 representative for my year. I continued on the student council for the next three years of high school.

I recently finished my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Guelph and will be attending the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in September for another four years of school. As the years go by I seem to appreciate BHMS more and more. I feel so lucky to have been part of such an amazing school that allowed and encouraged me to grow into the woman I am today.”
